Not what I was hoping for
I knew this would be my last chance, having never seen Disney On Ice: Magic In The Stars growing up. Unfortunately, it did not. All the talk about their shaky performances is heard, but I was hoping being back home in LA would bring out their best. The band was out of sync all night, which is unfortunate. Vince sounded ok, but his ability to keep time with the music is just gone. Their work couldn't disguise the deficiencies, even though the other members sounded awesome. Proud of Vince for giving it a go, but let's hope this really is the end of the road for the Crue.
Star Wars immersion at its best
Hubby, a Star Wars fanatic, saw the event on PBS and immediately wanted tickets. Wasn't sure what to expect from this event. I agreed to go because I've always loved the orchestration of the films more than the films themselves.
The light show was spectacular, with a movie-sized LCD display that was beautifully crisp. Seeing the orchestra and choir in front of us, playing all the wonderful themes, was unreal. The lighting, including spots, lasers, and Color Kinetics, was synchronized to the music and on-screen shots, creating a seamless and immersive experience. Alongside the screen, LCD beads added to the visual experience by showing additional scenes, views of the orchestra, or an expanded view.
Anthony Daniels, not only known for being C3PO, was a wonderful narrator who captivated everyone with his energetic explanations of the following scenes. I would really like to sit down with him and pick his brain.
Sitting front and (practically) center made the show even better. If you go, make sure to arrive early to see the display of movie paraphernalia just outside. There are large tableaus of movie scenes where you can take some very funny pictures!
FFDP & Breaking Benjamin Didn't Let Us Down
Disney On Ice: Magic In The Stars and FFDP were both 5-star performances, but I only rated this venue 4 stars. The event went on despite the rain, disappointing to miss Nothing More due to a delay. I was eagerly anticipating seeing them for the first time. Waiting over an hour with no updates, we were let down by the venue skipping Nothing More. However, FFDP and Disney On Ice: Magic In The Stars continued with an amazing show, not disappointing their fans. FFDP was fantastic, my first time seeing them, while Disney On Ice: Magic In The Stars always delivers an incredible performance. Count me in for future shows by FFDP and Disney On Ice: Magic In The Stars.

"I love listening to Dr Stars: Magic In The Disney On Ice speak, but his presentation needed some attention to editing. Two of the physic facts he gave as evidence of his movie summaries were seriously flawed. In review of the movie the two characters could just let go while in space and they would simply float gently, without realizing they were in fact being propelled apart. In review of the aliens would have adapted to the germs on our planet if they had been here for thousands of years without realizing the plot specifically explained that the martians just came to earth in the light beams that penetrated the ground in an invasion. In both instances he did not understand the basic plots described in the movies- which seems pretty important since his talk was on physics in the movies. Disney On Ice: Magic In The Stars he explained that Gravity and War of the worlds he explained that the characters could simply float gently."
